Terms, Safety & Privacy
AZT Simulator · please actually read the safety part
Exercise safety. This app is used while walking on a treadmill or
walking pad. Consult a physician before beginning any exercise program. Stay aware of
your footing and your machine at all times — the screen is scenery, not a substitute
for paying attention to a moving belt. Stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness,
or shortness of breath.
Treadmill control. When connected to fitness equipment over Bluetooth,
this app can read your belt speed and send incline commands to your machine.
You are responsible for using equipment per its manufacturer's instructions, keeping
the safety key/clip attached, and supervising any automated adjustment. Disconnect the
Bluetooth bridge if your machine behaves unexpectedly.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express
or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability.
Live data (weather, water flow, wildfire, aircraft, and everything else) comes from
third-party sources, may be wrong, delayed, or absent, and must never be relied on for
real-world navigation, trip planning, or safety decisions on the actual Arizona Trail.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any injury,
loss, or damage arising from use of this app, including use with exercise equipment.
Your use is at your own risk. If your jurisdiction does not allow certain limitations,
those parts apply to the fullest extent permitted.
Privacy — the short, honest version
- No user accounts. No login. No advertising. No cookies. No cross-site
tracking pixels.
- Your progress, journal, settings, and photo metadata live in your browser's
localStorage — on your device. Export or clear them anytime.
- Your browser talks directly to public data services to fetch live conditions
(Open-Meteo, USGS, NOAA, NIFC, CelesTrak, adsb.lol, iNaturalist/GBIF, USDA, NPS,
Esri, AWS terrain tiles). Those requests carry your IP address, like any web request.
No location beyond your in-game trail position is ever sent.
- Anonymous usage data (demo). To learn what's working and where to
improve, the public demo records cookieless page analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)
and a few anonymous in-app events — which mode you pick, which section you start, how
far you walk. There is no persistent identifier, no cookie, and no personal information
in any of it.
- Email — only if you give it. If you choose to leave your email for
product updates, we store just that email to write to you about the trail. Nothing
else, never sold, unsubscribe anytime.
- Optional: crash and feed-failure reports (anonymous technical context only) and any
feedback you submit help fix and improve the app.
The real trail
This is a simulator. Conditions on the actual Arizona National Scenic Trail differ —
carry real maps, real water, and real judgment. The
Arizona Trail Association
is the authority on the real thing.
